New Caucus Formed to Protect Western Civilization
Texas Representatives Keith Self and Chip Roy have announced the creation of the Sharia Free America Caucus in the House of Representatives. Their mission is to educate Americans about what they see as the risks of Sharia law in the United States.
Lawmakers’ Concerns About Shari
Self and Roy claim Sharia conflicts with the U.S. Constitution. Roy also warned that some Sharia followers could enter the country under the guise of refugees or act as sleeper agents linked to extremist groups.
Legislative Plans and Senate Support
The caucus seeks to pass laws that would block foreign nationals who follow Sharia from entering the U.S. and to label the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. Senator Tommy Tuberville has expressed support and may help move these bills in the Senate.
What Sharia Law Means
Sharia generally guides ethics and behavior for practicing Muslims. In some countries, it also serves as a criminal code with strict punishments, including the death penalty for offenses like blasphemy. In the U.S., constitutional guarantees of religious freedom prevent Sharia from being applied at any governmental level.
