KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Friday halted the University of Karachi’s announcement that Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, a judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), had had his law degree revoked.
The SHC bench, which included Justices Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Mohammad Abdur Rahman, heard a plea from IHC’s Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and also barred the university from acting further on the judge’s recommendation from the Syndicate and Fairmen’s Committee.
In order to declare the University of Karachi’s notification that his degree had been canceled void, the IHC judge went to the SHC.
Professor Imran Siddiqui, Registrar of the University of Karachi, appeared before the court during today’s session and requested time to provide a response.
