Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) lawmaker Omar Ayub Khan slammed the eight-party ruling coalition in the National Assembly, referring to newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as a “product” of Form 47 — a document that provides information about unconfirmed election results in a constituency, including the number of votes cast and cancelled.
The PTI claimed that its mandate was stolen during the February 8 general elections, and that the results were modified in Form 47s. The Imran Khan-founded party also claimed 180 NA seats based on Form 45 results.
It is important to note that Form 45, also known as the Presiding Officer’s Results of the Count, is the form that the presiding officer (PO) must sign and furnish with his thumb impression and signature to the polling agents.
This form counts the number of votes cast at a polling site. It also specifies how many votes a candidate obtained from each polling place.
Form 47 is another crucial form pertaining to polling locations. The Returning Officer uses this form to record the number of votes cast in all polling stations in a constituency. This produces a provisional consolidated result for the constituency without postal ballots.
Speaking in the lower house of parliament after losing the election for Prime Minister, Ayub described the Shehbaz-led government as a continuation of the earlier Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rule.
