Rather than in Europe or the UK, the Sherlock Holmes film will be set in the United States.
The wife of Sherlock Holmes actor Robert Downey Jr., producer Susan Downey, has recently disclosed that the team considered what would set the film apart and give it a “slightly different direction,” and that was to move the story to the United States.
The 51-year-old producer stated in an interview with Collider: “We’ve been talking about a slightly different direction.”
She continued, “It’s always been kind of set in America, and I’m not sure if that’s a good idea or not, but I love it.”
