Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has launched the Student Attendance Monitoring and Redress System (SAMRS), calling it a groundbreaking model that can be replicated across Pakistan. The system uses technology and data-driven insights to improve school management, monitor student attendance, and support education reform.
CM Murad highlighted that SAMRS links student attendance with school infrastructure, teacher performance, and learning outcomes, allowing authorities to make decisions based on real data rather than assumptions. The system is already live in 600 schools across 12 districts and is expanding to additional districts with UNICEF support.
Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah described SAMRS as a “game-changer,” creating a digital ecosystem where attendance, performance, and infrastructure data work together. By linking student IDs with verified B-Form numbers through NADRA, every child in Sindh is now accounted for. The system has reported a 99% attendance rate in participating schools, with 92% implementing redress procedures to reduce dropouts.
CM Murad emphasized integrating education with child health, nutrition, and protection, suggesting that schools should become centers of overall child well-being. World Bank officials praised SAMRS as a government-led initiative, highlighting Sindh’s commitment to improving public education.
