KARACHI: Recommendations to begin the new school year in primary and secondary educational institutions in August have been approved by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department.
The provincial department said on Thursday that the new academic year 2024–25 will start on August 1, 2024, rather than April 1, 2024.
The decision made during the January 25 meeting of the steering committee’s subcommittee resulted in a reevaluation of the new academic session 2024–25, which will now begin on August 1 rather than April 1, 2024, effective immediately
The new academic year in public and private schools will begin on April 15, 2024, as per the decision made by the provincial education department in November of last year. Additionally, it was planned that Sindh’s colleges would open for business on August 1st, 2024–25.
The spokeswoman for the department had also disclosed that the matriculation and intermediate tests would take place in the final week of May 2024, with results to be revealed on July 31 and the second week of August, respectively.
In a related development, the province administration declared today that, in anticipation of the country’s impending general elections, schools will be closed from February 6 to 9.
Nonetheless, all educational institutions—public and private—will continue to be closed.
