Due to the heavy fog that fell on Friday, several stretches of the freeway had to be temporarily closed as the country continues to experience frigid weather.
The National Highways and highway Police (NHMP) said in a statement that poor visibility has forced the closure of certain M-1, M-2, and M-4 highway sections.
The stretch of M-1 that runs from Rashakai to the Peshawar toll plaza and from Burhan to Swabi has been closed.
At the same time, the following M-2 routes are closed: Kot Momin to Lillah, Islamabad toll plaza to Thallian, Chakari to Neela Dullah, Kot Momin to Pindi Bhattian, Farooqabad to Pindi Bhattian, Thokar Niaz Baig to Farooqabad, and Balkasar to Kallar Kahar.
M-5 from Rahim Yaar Khan to Rohri and Zahir peer to Uch Sharif, as well as M-4 from Faisalabad to Pindi Bhattian, Gojra to Faisalabad, Abdul Hakeem to Gojra and Abdul Hakeem to Sher Shah, have all been closed.
It is recommended that commuters keep themselves informed and arrange their travel appropriately.
It has been suggested that individuals check their official social media accounts or call the NHMP helpline at 130 in the interim.
In addition to the heavy fog, air pollution is becoming a bigger problem and is causing dangerous smog, which not only makes it harder to see but also puts people’s health at serious risk.
