The 31-year-old sustained the injury on April 6th, when Bath lost to Exeter in the Investec Champions Cup.
In the first of Bath’s final two Premiership regular-season games, the club will travel to the bottom-of-the-league Falcons, where Russell will start at number ten with Ben Spencer at scrum-half.
In an attempt to finish in the top four and advance to the play-offs, Bath is currently sitting third in the standings, one point behind second-place Saracens and five points behind leaders Northampton.
Cameron Redpath, Russell’s teammate from Scotland, will also start at center for the first time since he made a full recovery from an ankle ligament injury.
Props To complete the four alterations made to Bath’s starting lineup from their previous match against Saracens, Tom Dunn and Thomas du Toit also start in the front row.
