Columbia University in New York sent a letter to its students on Monday requesting that, in order for them to graduate on time or until June 2025, they sign a document committing to follow the university’s rules.
The letter stated that they would be suspended pending more investigation and would not be allowed to finish the semester if they did not cooperate by 2 p.m. local time.
Yet, according to the news, people at the camp, which is already in its second week, decided almost unanimously to remain put.
Protesters were spotted walking on the quad at 2:30 pm, shouting, “Disclose! Sell off! We won’t slow down or stop,” the news declared.
There were still around 300 people and at least 120 tents.
“We urge you to remove the encampment so that we do not deprive your fellow students, their families and friends of this momentous occasion,” the letter stated, noting that examinations were about to begin and graduation was quickly approaching.
