Domestic Violence Protection Rules are being abused The Government is also investigating misuses of policies that are designed to protect victims of abuse. Some rules permit those in real danger to obtain permanent residence faster. Some migrants have been accused of entering into relationships and marriages on false pretenses. They allegedly submit fake abuse complaints to remain in the UK after gaining entry. According to recent figures, over 5500 applications for residence are now made each year in relation to domestic violence. The number of people applying for residency under domestic abuse provisions has increased more than 50% in the last three years. Government Response and Legal Action Officials claim that there are strict controls in place. To ensure accuracy and fairness, applications are subjected to detailed evaluations. In order to resolve the problem, the Home Office and the Immigration Advice Authority are working together. They want to find out who is abusing the system, and then take action. The office of the Prime Minister confirmed that fraudsters will be punished severely. The authorities may deny their application and deport them. When legal professionals are found to be engaging in unethical conduct, they will be referred by regulators to the law enforcement agencies.
