He notes that Cristiano Ronaldo earns around £170 million a year in Saudi Arabia, while Salah earns close to £20 million at Liverpool. He also says regional tensions may still affect any final decision. MLS offers a different path The United States is another realistic option for Salah. Major League Soccer has grown fast and already attracted global stars like Lionel Messi. MLS uses a salary cap system, but clubs can sign elite players through the Designated Player rule, often called the Beckham rule. This system has helped bring players like David Beckham, Lionel Messi, and Luis Suárez to the league. Messi earns around $20 million in salary at Inter Miami, but his total income is much higher due to commercial deals and ownership benefits. MLS commissioner Don Garber has already shown interest in Salah. He has said the league would welcome him and encouraged him to speak with Messi and Thomas Müller about their experience in the United States. Clubs such as Inter Miami, LA Galaxy, and Los Angeles FC have the financial power and global reach to sign a player of Salah’s level. What comes next for Salah Saudi Arabia offers the strongest financial package and regional influence. The MLS offers global branding, lifestyle appeal, and strong commercial opportunities.
