Teams from the police, district administration, and other pertinent departments have been assembled to start identification and verification activities throughout the nation as the government’s deadline for unregistered Afghan refugees expired on Sunday.
According to The News, the government had set August 31 as the deadline for all types of Afghan refugees who have been in Pakistan for more than 46 years.
Authorities had threatened to take action starting on September 1st, so they were advised to return home.
“Sub-divisional teams have been established to locate Afghan families in their locality. According to a senior official on Sunday, the area’s assistant commissioner, deputy superintendent of police, and other pertinent officials will oversee activities in their respective regions.
