Just hours before broad UN sanctions on Iran are expected to reappear, Iranian state television said Friday that Iran and Russia have inked a $25 billion agreement to construct nuclear power stations in Tehran.
“A deal for the construction of four nuclear power plants with a value of $25 billion in Sirik, Hormozgan, was signed between the Iran Hormoz company and Rosatom,” state-run media reported.
Only a small portion of Iran’s energy needs are met by its single, 1,000 megawatt nuclear power plant in Bushehr, in the south.
