According to Fox News Digital, country music icon Darius Rucker was taken into custody in Tennessee on suspicion of a small-scale drug charge.
Williamson County, Tennessee, public information officer for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office stated that the 57-year-old musician was placed under arrest on Thursday.
Rucker was taken into custody on one count of breaking the state’s car registration legislation and two counts of simple possession/casual trade of a controlled drug.
Rucker was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December. In 2023, the Grammy-winning country music artist also made available “Carolyn’s Boy,” his seventh solo album. The song pays homage to his mother, who passed away.
After fronting Hootie & the Blowfish for more than thirty years, Rucker went on to become successful in the country music industry. At the time, he told Fox News Digital that he didn’t think his career had reached its zenith.
“I think the thing that keeps me working so hard is I always feel like I haven’t done enough,” he stated.
Although he had joked that he wanted his two youngest children to become physicians or attorneys, Rucker also disclosed to People magazine last year that they are interested in following in his footsteps.
Daniela and Jack, the singer’s two children with his ex-wife, and Rucker’s daughter Carolyn are from a prior relationship.
