AUSTIN: House Bill 4211, a new law intended to stop residential complexes that are exclusive to certain religions, like the contentious EPIC City project in Collin County, has been formally approved by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
The bill shields Texans from discrimination and deceptive housing practices while outlawing the construction of so-called Sharia complexes.
Governor Abbott was joined by state and local leaders, including Congressman Keith Self, Senator Angela Paxton, Representative Jeff Leach, Representative Candy Noble, Representative Katrina Pierson, Representative Keresa Richardson, and Representative Matt Shaheen, at the ceremonial signing Friday afternoon in McKinney.
Governor Abbott stated during the ceremony that the measure tackles two important issues: the right to contract and religious freedom.
