As the number of journalists slain in Gaza rises, White House national security secretary John Kirby says the US would continue to “stand by the protection of journalists.”
Kirby made these remarks during a press conference when he was questioned about if it was contradictory for the US to support free speech while arming Israel in its war on Gaza, which has claimed several journalist lives.
He declared, “We have seen no indication… that they are going out to kill journalists deliberately, maliciously.”
On January 7, near Khan Younis, southern Gaza, Hamza Dahdouh, the son of Al Jazeera’s lead correspondent in Gaza Wael Dahdouh, was killed when an Israeli missile struck his car. One of the journalists murdered in the targeted strike was Mustafa Thuraya.
