The college community is in ruins, according to students who spoke to the news about the university’s decision to send in the police to quell a protest in Gaza late on Tuesday. This action resulted in a raid on the occupied Hamilton Hall and more than 100 arrests.
Minouche Shafik, the president of the institution, expressed her deep sorrow for directing the police operation against students and other people she said had infiltrated the demonstration.
In a post-op message, she added that it will “take time to heal”.
