Barbie, however, took first place at the box office with $1.4 billion (£1.1 billion) in worldwide ticket sales, but Oppenheimer was the dominant force at this year’s Academy Awards.
Barbie only received one golden trophy, whereas Frankenstein’s reimagining of Poor Thing earned four, The Zone of Interest, an eerie drama about the Holocaust, took home two, and British filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s three-hour epic won seven gongs.
