After she was unable to get Mr. Read a sufficient wage increase, Jane Davies, who held the position for seven months from December 2022 until her dismissal, alleged that Mr. Read spearheaded a “deliberate campaign to defame and ostracize me.”
Ms. Davies stated in the March letter made public by the commerce and trade committee on Tuesday that she addressed Mr. Read’s “pay demands” during the first eight weeks of her role as group chief people officer.
He has previously refuted a claim made by Henry Staunton, the ousted chairman of the Post Office, that he had repeatedly threatened to quit over the salary dispute.
In her letter to the committee, Ms. Davies stated that she agreed with Mr. Staunton’s account of events from his February testimony.
