ISLAMABAD: Rafael Mariano Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has praised Pakistan for its close collaboration with the international organization and its peaceful nuclear program.
He made these remarks after meeting with Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar, the chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), on the sidelines of the 69th IAEA General Conference in Vienna on Saturday.
Pakistan’s nuclear power program is moving “at a good pace,” he noted, especially with the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-5 (C-5) still under development.
In February 2025, the DG recalled seeing the first concrete pour at the location, which he considered a significant turning point in Pakistan’s attempts to improve energy security by using clean and sustainable nuclear power.
