According to Al Jazeera, the International Court of Justice has ruled against imposing emergency sanctions in relation to Germany’s arms sales to Israel.
Presidentă Judge Nawaf Salam declared, “The circumstances are not such as to require the exercise of its power under the article 41 of the statute to indicate provisional measures.”
The International Court of Justice in The Hague rendered a decision regarding Nicaragua’s demand for Germany to be subject to emergency measures due to Germany’s backing of Israel’s offensive in Gaza.
Germany refuted the allegations, claiming through its attorney that Nicaragua’s case was hurried, based on scant evidence, and ought to be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.
In 2023, Germany was among Israel’s top military suppliers, providing $353.7 million worth of weaponry and equipment.
