LAHORE: With severe rains predicted for the whole province, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed the authorities to take preventative measures on Saturday.
The appropriate authorities were notified by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on April 22 that a fresh period of rainfall was expected in Punjab until April 29.
From April 26 to 29, the Met Office had forecasted moderate to severe rainfall for a number of cities, including Lahore.
“Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan, and Sahiwal are likely to have rain, wind, and thunderstorm (with a few moderate to heavy rains).
In Dera Ghazi Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalnagar, on the other hand, rain is expected with occasional gaps from April 26 to 28. Hailstorms are also expected in isolated places during the period,” the PMD said.
