The defense pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan has been characterized as a historic strategic partnership by the former Saudi ambassador. According to his article in Arab News, the deal is the outcome of years of constant negotiations between the two allies and demonstrates the strong and enduring alliance between Riyadh and Islamabad.
Al-Asiri claimed that only Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have previously received the same level of formality as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. According to him, the new defense deal acknowledges Pakistan’s rising diplomatic prominence. Pakistan’s active involvement in the UN High-Level Conference on the Two-State Solution was another point he made.
