The European Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) decision to lift the ban has been a welcome milestone for Pakistan’s aviation industry, bringing the country’s airlines’ operations closer to restoration in Europe, as The News reported on Monday.
According to sources who spoke with the publication, the European Commission and the EASA have both sent the decision to the European Air Safety Committee for approval.
The event occurred one day after a high-level delegation from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), led by the CAA DG, departed for Europe to inform the authorities about the steps being taken to allow Pakistani carriers to resume flights within European borders.
A separate group, headed by the secretary of the aviation division, is set to depart for Brussels today in order to participate in the nextEuropean Air Safety Committee meetings from May 14 to 16.
