KARACHI: In accordance with Section 121-A of the Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965, the Sindh government amended the Twelfth Schedule to introduce a revamped system that includes significant penalties and demerit points for traffic offenses throughout the state.
Strict measures will be taken against infractions such as speeding, signal breaking, wrong-way driving, overloading, and driving without a license, according to a statement made by Senior Minister and Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon, as reported by The News.
The updated list raises fines based on the type of vehicle, such as heavy transportation, motorbikes, cars and jeeps, and public service vehicles. In addition to eight demerit points, he stated that speeding will result in fines of Rs 5,000 for motorcycles, Rs 15,000 for autos, and Rs 20,000 for heavy transport.
