On the Roland Garros clay, Spanish third seed Alcaraz, 21, defeated Greek ninth seed Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6 (7-3) 6-4.
Alcaraz has defeated Tsitsipas, the runner-up in 2021, in the quarterfinals of the Paris major for the second year in a row.
The current Wimbledon champion has defeated Tsitsipas in each of his six career matchups.
Later on Tuesday, second seed Sinner easily defeated Grigor Dimitrov to advance in his quest for a second consecutive Grand Slam victory.
After defeating the Bulgarian 10th seed 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), the Australian Open champion learned he will now be ranked #1 in the ATP rankings.
With a leg injury, defending champion Novak Djokovic withdrew before his quarterfinal; therefore, when the most recent rankings are revealed the following week, Sinner, 22, will take his spot.
Sinner, who will make history as the first Italian to top the men’s rankings since they were originally established in 1973, stated, “It’s every player’s dream to become number one in the world.”
“On the other hand, seeing Novak retiring [from the tournament] is disappointing, so I wish him a speedy recovery.”
