LAHORE: According to sources who spoke to News on Wednesday, right-handed batter and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan is probably the “strongest candidate” to take over as captain of the Pakistan cricket team following Babar Azam’s resignation.
The sources claim that in order to choose the team, Mohammad Rizwan has been consulted by pertinent officials.
A day prior, the former captain of Pakistan had said that he was going to stand down from his job as white-ball captain, citing a desire to concentrate on his playing career and personal development.
The 29-year-old batter posted on X, saying, “By stepping down, I will gain clarity moving ahead and devote more energy on my game and personal improvement.
