The Montreal Canadiens have reportedly agreed to trade veteran center Sean Monahan, according to a major update released by Bleach Report on Friday. Monahan will be joining the Winnipeg Jets.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Canadiens will receive a conditional draft selection and a first-round choice in exchange.
According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the first-round pick is in 2024, and the conditional pick is in 2027.
Monahan, who has spent the last two seasons with Montreal, is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the current campaign.
Two summers prior, the Canadiens obtained a conditional first-round pick in return for Sean Monahan and his $6.38 million salary cap hit from the Calgary Flames.
Due to an injury that limited him to just 25 games the previous season, Monahan, 29, has 13 goals and 35 points in 49 games this season. As of right now, he is ranked third on the most recent TSN Trade Bait list.
Monahan has played in 730 NHL games, divided between Montreal and Calgary. He has scored 514 points and ignited the lamp 231 times.
