Radio presenter Dan Patrick appeared to take issue with Chicago forward Angel Reese’s words on her part in helping make the WNBA popular when she spoke to the media Monday.
Reese noted the surge in popularity for the league was not just because of one individual, it was because of her and so many other outstanding players before her. The former LSU standout said she would be happy to accept the villain character if that is what it takes to help preserve that popularity.
Patrick stated he would have been alright with Reese leaving her comments at accepting the villain character, but the further step was what he had a problem with.
But her popularity, her renown is built upon Caitlin Clark because she wins the national title, the first thing she does is insult Caitlin Clark,” Patrick stated on his radio broadcast Tuesday. “And then, she doesn’t even celebrate with her teammates. So, she’s taken it personal with Caitlin Clark. Then, she’s played off of that.
“Even Caitlin Clark was knocked down in the game on Saturday. Who’s standing up and applauding except Angel Reese. So, she’s sort of accepted a Draymond Green role here. But the attention on the WNBA truly have to do with Caitlin Clark. You could, if you remain long enough, be able to see someone or something, and you would go OK. But there’s nothing wrong with confessing.
