Paul Levesque introduced the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW and hosted a championship tournament in response to Reigns’ growing exclusivity to SmackDown.
A.J. Styles and Seth Rollins, the tournament’s finalists, squared off at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. To put one leg up against the other, the two traded blows with a variety of aerial manoeuvres. In an attempt to take the fall, Styles even employed Rollins’ pedigree finisher.
Nonetheless, Rollins possessed the advantage thanks to his own lineage and superkick. He performed the Curb Stomp to end Styles’s run. Since then, Rollins has maintained the championship and dubbed himself a fighting champion.
