During News’ in Grimsby, a representative audience grilled Sir Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak for 45 minutes each.
‘Fail to prepare, prepare to fail’ was the advice Kay Burley gave me when I first started watching television, she said to former Labour MP Margaret Hodge on the Electoral Dysfunction podcast.
“I used these two maxims to guide me during this rigorous interview preparation. you begin to attempt to figure out what story you want to convey after gathering a ton of material.”
She claimed that the key is to consider everything and then “distill it” until a distinct “narrative arc” is there.
“The fundamental question with Starmer was: How can you trust him? That was the idea,” the woman stated.
“But with Sunak, it was more like, you say you’re going to deliver, you say you have a clear plan. What is the Conservative track record, then? More importantly though, what is your track record?
“Because you have served as prime minister before. Following your five promises, there was a more general inquiry into the nature of your betrayals of the British people.
