The CEO of Vistex, an Illinois-based IT business, Sanjay Shah, passed away following a strange event that left him with serious injuries while celebrating his company’s silver anniversary.

Shah, 56, and Raju Datla, 52, the president of his company, had a terrifying fall last week while trying to make a dramatic aerial entry in front of 700 workers at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India.

As part of the disastrous stunt, the men were held in the air inside a small iron cage that was supposed to be lowered. However, the cage squirmed when a sudden chain broke, sending both of them falling and landing 15 feet below the stage.

Following the event, Datla suffered a serious head injury and is still in critical condition, while Shah passed away at a hospital.

Sanjay Shah was who?
According to The New York Post, Shah, a software entrepreneur originally from Mumbai, started Vistex, a company that specializes in revenue management services and solutions, in 1999.

In addition, he served as the CEO and chief architect of Vistex, a company with 20 international locations, 2,000+ workers, and a roster of top brands.

According to The Hindustan Times, Shah, a Lehigh University alumnus, was instrumental in making Vistex a major force in the market.

At Lehigh University, he established the Vistex Institute for Executive Learning and Research.

Additionally, he engaged in philanthropy by founding the Vistex Foundation.
