The Tigers had not won a postseason game since they prevailed in Game 4 of the 2013 AL championship series. Detroit qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
For the eighth consecutive year, which is a team record, the Astros are in the playoffs. Before losing on Tuesday, Houston had an MLB record ten wins.
Additionally, it was the Astros’ 98th postseason encounter since 2017.
