Britain’s foreign ministry announced Thursday that British spies will utilize the dark web’s digital shadows to find informants and give them access to classified information from operatives in Russia and throughout the world.
A dark web gateway dubbed Silent Courier will be used by the Secret Intelligence Service, also known as MI6, the British spy agency abroad, to safely transmit information about illegal activity anywhere in the globe or to provide their own services.
In an address in Istanbul on Friday, MI6 chief Richard Moore will formally reveal the plans. “Today we’re asking those with sensitive information on global instability, international terrorism, or hostile state intelligence activity to contact MI6 securely online,” Moore will say.
