ISLAMABAD According to The News on Tuesday, lawmakers from all parties in the National Assembly voiced their support for water reservoirs as they voiced their concern about the nation’s unprecedented flood scenario.
While Defense Minister Khawaja Asif pushed for the building of both large and minor dams, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ali Muhammad Khan called for a national policy for water reservoirs, emphasizing that the matter be kept above political disagreements.
Following widespread flooding in Punjab brought on by heavy rains and water discharge from India, lawmakers expressed concern about the lack of water storage facilities.
Prior to Punjab, landslides occurred in the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir due to heavy rainfall.
