In a statement released here on Thursday, it was stated that a group of businesses led by Fuad Ishaq, president of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, had already expressed their concerns to the province administration regarding the imposition of the export tax from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The head of the chamber requested that the province remove the two percent cess, which will support a rise in exports and commercial activity, as well as maximize job prospects and stabilize the economy.
Speaking on the occasion on bilateral commerce, Fuad Ishaq stated that transit trade conducted by Afghanistan through Pakistan was free from duties and tariffs under SRO-121.
Thus, he claimed, the provincial government’s imposition of an export cess was unjustified.
