As the bank holiday weekend gives way to a two-week break for many schools, the news issued a warning that travel times on busy routes may double.
Additionally, trains between London Euston and Milton Keynes will be stopped as Network Rail does engineering work on the West Coast Main Line, which runs from the capital to Scotland.
Between Good Friday and Easter Monday, that section of the rail will be blocked, causing delays that are also anticipated in Glasgow and Huddersfield.
Network Rail’s head of network strategy, Laurence Bowman, stated that there is “never a good time.”
Additionally, Bob Pishue, a transportation analyst for Inrix, stated that “drivers should be prepared for longer journeys than normal throughout the entire weekend”.
The worst day to drive
According to a poll conducted on behalf of the news and Inrix, 2.6 million trips are scheduled for Good Friday, and an additional 2.3 million are anticipated for Easter Saturday and Sunday.
A total of around 14.5 million journeys are anticipated, including an additional 2 million trips on Thursday and Easter Monday, as well as an additional 3.3 million journeys that have no specified start date.
