After weeks of disagreement, US President Donald Trump has raised expectations for a resolution by stating that his government is still negotiating to remove trade barriers with India and that he will speak with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Trump said he was looking forward to talking to Modi in the “upcoming weeks” and was hopeful that they might finalize a trade agreement, which was a significant change in tone.
“I feel certain that there will be no difficulty in coming to a successful conclusion for both of our Great Countries,” he wrote in a message on social media.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Modi echoed the optimism, stating that Washington and New Delhi “are close friends and natural partners.”
