President Donald Trump has launched Freedom 250, a nonpartisan initiative designed to oversee the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations in 2026. The organization will work with states, businesses, and other groups to showcase American history, innovation, and culture. Keith Krach, former undersecretary of state, will serve as CEO of Freedom 250, saying the initiative will renew the pioneering spirit that defines America.
Monumental Events Across the Nation
The celebrations will begin with the Washington Monument illuminated in festive lights. From June 25 to July 10, the Great American State Fair on the National Mall will feature pavilions from all 50 states, highlighting achievements and cultural milestones.
Trump also announced the first Patriot Games, a four-day athletic competition showcasing top high school athletes from each state and territory. He emphasized that the games will maintain traditional sports categories.
Engaging Americans With History
Freedom 250’s website offers interactive content, including videos from Hillsdale College about the story of American independence. The site also features toolkits for teachers, state fairs, and rodeos, helping communities plan their own celebrations. A national freedom tour will visit all 50 states, with Cabinet officials and local leaders highlighting the nation’s history.
Special Highlights and White House Events
Past events tied to the anniversary include a June 14 military parade in Washington, D.C., marking both the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary and Trump’s 79th birthday. One of the most talked-about events is a White House UFC fight on Flag Day, June 14, with first daughter Ivanka Trump involved in organizing the event.
The initiative aligns with America250, the national organization tasked with coordinating the anniversary. It continues to focus on values-based programming and inclusive celebrations, making it a nationwide effort to engage all Americans. Trump has also created Task Force 250, revived the 1776 Commission, and signed legislation to fund birthday-focused initiatives.
