LONDON: As US President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK came to an end, a chopper carrying him had to veer to the Luton Airport Thursday night due to what officials called a “minor hydraulic issue.”
According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the plane made a precautionary landing at a “local airfield” before continuing on to Stansted, where it arrived around 20 minutes later than expected.
The first lady and president boarded the support helicopter safely, she said.
After the safe landing, emergency personnel were visible on the Luton tarmac. Marine One and Marine Two, the two presidential helicopters parked near the runway, were seen in photos.
