US President Donald Trump said on Monday he would file a $15-billion lawsuit for defamation and libel against the New York Times, days after the newspaper ran exposes about his ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The announcement follows Trump’s promise to sue the New York last week for its coverage of a sexually explicit note and drawing that Epstein received.
Trump said, “Today, I have the Great Honor of bringing a $15 Billion Dollar Defamation and Libel Lawsuit against The New York Times,” on his Instagram account, Truth Social.
A request for comment outside of regular business hours was not immediately answered by the New York Times.
