With a relaunch formally in the works at News Entertainment, “Baywatch” lifeguards said they’ll “be ready” to suit up and patrol the beaches of Malibu once more.
While Nicole Eggert exclusively told News that the resurrection of the show was “exciting” to hear, Donna D’Errico and Carmen Electra went on the quest for the red swimsuits they wore in the lifeguard thriller.
Before its final episode aired in 1999, “Baywatch” ran for ten seasons, beginning in 1989. Two seasons of “Baywatch: Hawaii” followed. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the show’s estimated weekly audience of over 1.1 billion people in 142 countries in 1996 made it the most watched TV series in the world.
Twenty-five years later, a “Baywatch” revival sets the original lifeguards searching for the fabled red swimsuits: “So recognizable”
