Sunday night, three people were reported missing; one was later confirmed to be okay.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, the bodies of two persons who were reported missing after falling through the ice on Charleston Lake have been found.
Around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, the OPP posted a statement on social media confirming the two individuals’ deaths.
Three persons broke through the ice while fishing on Sunday afternoon on Charleston Lake, which is located about 120 kilometers south of Ottawa’s downtown, according to the police.
One person managed to get out of the icy water and was found without incident.
Ever since, police had been searching for the other two missing persons.
According to an email from OPP Const. Joey Mason to CBC News, the search was assisted by fire fighters and a helicopter from CFB Trenton.
