United Arab Emirates defeated Oman by 42 runs in the Asia Cup on Monday thanks to offensive half-centuries from captain Muhammad Waseem and Alishan Sharafu.
In Abu Dhabi, Waseem (69) and Sharafu (51), who put on 88 runs for the first wicket, led the hosts, the United Arab Emirates, to a difficult 172-5.
The home bowlers then came together to defeat Oman for 130 in 18.4 overs, marking their first victory in this T20-format regional event.
Junaid Siddique, a medium-pace bowler, was notable with statistics of 4-23. Muhammad Jawadullah and Haider Ali both claimed two wickets.
