The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has declared a two-month amnesty period, which will begin on Sunday and end on September 1.
Those who opt to change their visa status or depart the United Arab Emirates will not be subject to any penalties or prohibitions during this time.
All visa categories are covered by the amnesty, including expired resident and tourist visas. Furthermore, persons who were born without legal paperwork are qualified to get permanent status.
The ICP stressed during a press conference on Wednesday that “this is the best opportunity for those staying illegally in the UAE to either regularize their residency status or leave the country without fines.” During this time, those who choose to leave the nation can return whenever they choose as long as they have the proper visa.
