Because of the violence in Bangladesh, the ICC has officially shifted the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates.
Originally scheduled to take place in Bangladesh, this is now scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates from October 3 to October 20, 2024.
This was done in response to travel recommendations issued by a number of nations—most notably Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand—advising against traveling to Bangladesh due to the current state of affairs there.
While it was regrettable that Bangladesh was unable to host the event, the ICC stated that protecting the players’ and staff’s safety and security came first.
With regretting the change, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardyce stated, “It’s a disappointment not to be hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup.”
