An inventive Climate Smart Farming Tower was opened in Okara by British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott with the goal of assisting farmers in conserving water, reducing expenses, and increasing yields.
The project is a component of Pakistan’s Climate Smart Farming Promotion Program, which is funded by the UK.
The recently installed equipment, called the Eddy Covariance Flux Tower, measures energy, carbon, methane, and water exchanges between the atmosphere and land in real time. According to experts, the technology is already helping the Ministry of Climate Change create more accurate data on greenhouse gas emissions and the Punjab Irrigation Department manage water resources more effectively.
