Actor Hill Harper’s campaign, in an event promoted on the crowdfunding portal ActBlue, invited contributors to a live performance on July 11.
In a statement to the News, the Democratic candidate referred to Chappelle as a “old friend”.
Chappelle’s publicist informed News that Harper’s team had bought some tickets to resell for his election campaign, and that Chappelle approved of the concert being much like any of the comedian’s other scheduled gigs.
According to a poster, “Harper for Michigan” is funding the event, which will take place in St. Andrews Hall.

For as high as $3,300, guests can purchase tickets for the “Gold Circle + VIP Reception,” which entitles them to an after-show reception with Harper. The event’s least priced tickets, which included balcony seating, were $250.
