Burt’s Bees, a natural skincare brand, and Hidden Valley Ranch, an American firm that makes the immensely popular creamy, tangy salad dressing, collaborated to create a four-pack of lip balms in January. The “craveable flavour of ranch and buffalo wings” was touted in the marketing. Though it may not seem like the next big thing, salad dressing-flavored lip balm sold out in a matter of hours because of clever marketing and inquisitive consumers.
The playful relationship is the most recent in a year-long run of surprising brand alliances, which also includes a 2023 connection between Pokémon and the Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum and nail varnish with a cheese scent similar to Velveeta.
