According to a statement released by the US embassy in New Delhi on Thursday, some Indian corporate executives and business executives had their visas withdrawn and later refused because of their involvement in the trafficking of fentanyl precursors.
The basic or parent compounds that make up fentanyl, a major cause of overdose deaths in the US, are known as fentanyl precursors.
Although the embassy’s statement did not identify the individuals impacted, a spokeswoman claimed that they were Indian citizens.
According to the US embassy’s statement, Indian government representatives have been working closely with their American counterparts to tackle the problem of drug trafficking.
A request for comment on the US visa policies from Reuters was not immediately answered by India’s foreign ministry.
